Operational Service Affiliation

GPHA offers a wealth of invaluable resources and strategic solutions uniquely designed to meet the healthcare mission and service-excellence of your hospital and community needs. GPHA’s Hospital Operations provide flexible healthcare management solutions: Leased, Managed and Resource Sharing (“unbundled”) Affiliations.

  • LEASED – GPHA assumes responsibility for all operation of the hospital. GPHA Board of Directors sets hospital policy, with local board serving in an advisory capacity.
  • MANAGED – The local board sets policy and GPHA provides administrative services. GPHA is accountable to and works collaboratively with the local board and executive team.
  • RESOURCE SHARING – Hospitals have access to one or more services offered by GPHA without being leased or managed. Services are available on an “unbundled” basis as needed.

Leased and Managed Affiliations receive a value-added benefit of an assigned Vice-President for Regional Operations (RVP) team member. The RVP routinely works with and visits the hospital to assist in important operational matters, including medical staff and monthly board meetings. RVP’s serve as a consultant, advisor and liaison for hospital boards, executives and key personnel, providing recommendations and guidance in hospital operations and finance.

Employee Benefit Trust Association

In 2015, GPHA formed a self-insured “Association” as part of its restated Employee Benefit Trust, permitted by Kansas Statutes and Section 501(c)(9) of the internal Revenue Code. Developed as a long-term strategical solution, the self-insured plan was implemented to counteract ongoing turmoil in the health insurance sector of the U.S. Economy with a primary purpose of offering more affordable health insurance coverage to rural hospitals. The Association affords hospitals improved economies of scale in purchasing health insurance, by pooling together more insured lives, thus spreading cost and minimizing risk.

Association members that have a GPHA affiliation as a Leased or Managed hospital and/or have a Cerner contract with our Data Center receive premium membership pricing.

Pharmacy Services

Pharmacist Support

Pharmacists play a vital role in ensuring medications are managed properly in the hospital. Rural facilities have unique challenges with securing hospital-trained pharmacy resources. GPHA has been successful in solving this resource issue by providing excellent pharmacy services remotely. GPHA contract facilities have the option of 12 hour coverage or 24 hour coverage, 7 days per week, 365 days per year.

340B Consulting and Compliance

GPHA has a proven track record of successful and profitable 340B program implementations. HRSA, manufacturer, and third-party payer audits are on the rise. GPHA provides a full compliance review for both 340B participants and their contract pharmacies. In the event of an audit, GPHA Pharmacy services can be retained to assist in the audit and help with the determination of any manufacturer repayments.
